I fell in love with postures, and soon, savasana was my favorite. It got to where I wanted longer and longer final relaxations, so I thought it was time for “real” meditation.

It quickly became apparent I couldn’t sit in lotus and shut my mind off for 20 minutes twice a day. I felt like both a failure and a fraud because my practice was random and sporadic.

So began my on-again, off-again relationship with meditation. I’d get into the habit only to slip back out again.

Fast forward a few years where ego yielded to maturity.

Now postures are less about aesthetics and more about nurturing my creaky body. Deep breathing isn’t reserved for yoga classes only, and mindfulness isn’t a new age buzz word.
