I've been there, too

I fell in love with postures, and soon, savasana was my favorite. It got to where I wanted longer and longer final relaxations, so I thought it was time for “real” meditation.

It quickly became apparent I couldn’t sit in lotus and shut my mind off for 20 minutes twice a day. I felt like both a failure because my practice was random and sporadic.

And every time I taught meditation in yoga teacher training, I felt like “fraud” was flashing on my forehead.

Fast forward a few years where ego yielded to maturity.

Like so much about yoga, the practices ebb and flow based on what’s happening in life.

Now postures are less about aesthetics and more about nurturing my creaky body. Deep breathing isn’t reserved for yoga classes only, and mindfulness isn’t a new age buzz word.
