Did you get pranked on April Fool's Day? Personally, I hate April 1st jokes, probably because I'm gullible enough to fall for them.⁣

So no jokes or pranks here, just a new theme for the month. ⁣

Seems fitting since last month was bloom. Now with April showers we have a chance to flourish and really show our colors!⁣

If vibrance doesn't do it for you as a theme, try flourish or energy. All of those give off April and spring vibes. ⁣

✨ I hate hearing this, and I hear it WAY too often. ✨

The number one reason people don’t try yoga classes is that they’re intimidated. The unknown is scary and they only have IG posts and magazine covers to go by “what yoga is.”

Legit problem.

So as a yoga teacher, you decide to offer a Beginner’s Workshop and remove at least one barrier for the curious & intimidated.

Cool, cool.

Said curious & intimidated get brave enough to walk through the door (the hardest f**king part) only to find out the workshop is vinyasa-focused with lots of upper body work *cough*chaturangas*cough*

Yoga teachers, if this is you, STOP IT. That is not a “Beginner’s Workshop,” it’s an “Intro to Vinyasa/Ashtanga Yoga Workshop.”  

And the curious & intimidated have had their worst fears confirmed and will be 10x harder to convince to try yoga again.  

Here’s what the intimidated want in a beginner’s workshop:  

*Learn how to reconnect, love, and listen to their bodies through BASIC postures. 
*Learn the names of postures and experiment with how their individual bodies approach and respond to postures. 
*Learn BASIC deep breathing using their diaphragms. 
*Learn the BASICS of relaxation and meditation. 
*Learn what to expect in different styles of yoga so they can appropriately choose which class suits their needs and personality. 
*Gain BASIC skills and knowledge so they feel comfortable participating in group classes.

💐 The inspiration for our theme this month in the Yoga Sequencing Society is BLOOM 💐

It's a verb that means to open; come into flower; blossom; to flourish or grow; to be in a healthy, glowing, or flourishing condition.

With spring, everything comes to life and goes from dull and drab to lush and vibrant. Trees, plants, and flowers bloom, bringing renewal and color with them.

Nature isn't the only thing blooming, people do, too. We come out of our own dormant times, throwing off the heaviness of winter, and welcome the lighter, brighter days of spring.
