                        STACY OLSEN, RYT 500

In 2001 Stacy began looking for a way to calm her mind, strengthen her self image and focus on personal goals. Through yoga, Stacy discovered that she is passionate about learning, practicing and teaching yoga. To simultaneously fulfill these passions, she completed the 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification through Purple Lotus in 2008.

She developed her own beginner series of yoga and started teaching corporate wellness at non-profit organizations. Then she began teaching group classes at Yoga on Main in Frisco and continues to do so. In January 2011 she began the next phase of instruction through the Purple Lotus 500-hour RYT certification program and will become a certified yoga life coach through Debra Williamson at the end of the year. In the summer of 2011 she became Assistant Director of Purple Lotus 200-hour In-Depth Study Training and also assists the yogasport 200-hour Teacher Training Intensive.  Autumn 2011, she will co-facilitate Angela Wagner’s Spark! Empowerment Program.

Stacy has participated in countless hours of training and workshops with local Experianced Registered Yoga Teachers (E-RYT) Shannon Caldwell, Maggie Metzinger, Dave Romanelli and Angela Wagner.

She is passionate about teaching every level of practice, from those who have never set foot in a yoga studio to experienced yogis ready to take their practice to the next level. Her teaching style is centered on Vinyasa flow classes, private instruction and mentoring new yoga teachers.

                        ARPITA SHAH, RYT 500

Arpita was born in India and came to the United States when she was 18 years old. She was raised in a traditional Hindu  family, where chanting, kirtan and meditation were part of her daily rituals.  Her first introduction to asana practice came from her Grandfather, her Guruji.  She started her asana practice under his guidance and it became her daily ritual. In 2008 she decided to take it a step further and did her 200 hour teacher training with Purple Lotus Yoga. Arpita is a certified yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance and has had the privilege of studying under very talented international teachers such as Rod Styker, Dharma Mittra, Judith Lasater, Lesli Kamainof, Doug Keller and Pandit Rajmani Tigunait.

For Arpita, yoga is not just a form of exercise but it’s a path towards a better life. She believes that yoga helps clear clutter of daily modern life and develops an awareness to get in touch with our inner selves. Arpita’s yoga classes are designed and based on this philosophy. She provides a fun-filled environment where each participant is encouraged and empowered to learn and grow. Her classes offer an alignment-focused asana practice combined with chanting, pranayama and meditation.

Besides her regular teaching schedule at Divine Center of Yoga in Southlake, Arpita also offers private yoga classes and one on one nutrition consultation. Additionally, she regularly conducts workshops on Indian vegetarian cooking and Mantra Meditation. In 2010, she decided to combine her passion for travel and her love of yoga by organizing and leading a Yoga Retreat to Peru, one of many more to come.

I began practicing in 2006 at Longview Yoga Studio and immediately fell in love with yoga. I didn’t get serious about it immediately though. After the initial excitement of the practice, I realized something about my body. I had the potential for strength but less so for flexibility. The lack of flexibility temporarily burst my yoga bubble. I stopped practicing for several months. How could I practice if I would never be able to do the beautiful postures that require great flexibility? I led a life without yoga and I missed it terribly. I reached the point where I knew I had to practice ~flexible or not. I got back on the mat and let go of my desire to be something I was not. Accepting myself led me to teacher training in 2009.

I am now certified to teach Hatha Yoga through the Purple Lotus Teacher Training: 200 hour program in Frisco, Texas. I am registered with Yoga Alliance as a 200 hour RYT. I have studied Yoga Therapy with Doug Keller and I’m currently embarking on a new adventure with Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training.

Each day I am required to accept myself anew as I step onto the mat. So far, the principles of yoga and practicing the breath have allowed me to overcome the limitations imposed by my mind. Inhale. Exhale. Namaste.
