                        NORMAN, OKLAHOMA

Yoga is a life long endeavor; there is always something new to learn. The teachers I respect are those who are still willing to learn from others and who continue to let their practice expand. Over the last few years, I’ve focused on attending workshops and teacher trainings that are centered on Hatha Yoga philosophy and techniques. My intention is for my personal journey and practice to reflect in my teaching. In other words, I only teach poses and techniques that I actually do in my own practice. I gave up the business I’d been running for ten years to practice and teach yoga full time. There is a difference between a life led by the head, and a life led by the heart and spirit.

Prior to becoming a teacher and starting Rescue Yoga, Jennifer was a yoga nomad taking yoga classes whenever and wherever. When teaching yoga became a job for her, Jenny met Meg Plotsky where her practice entered a whole new realm. In 2004, Jennifer was in a car accident and unable to work for many months due to spinal injuries. With the help of her chiropractor, a massage therapist and Meg, she was able to go back to work and get into better shape than before the accident. Over the years she slowly began instructing group and private sessions again. With the knowledge of her own injuries and that long road of recovery, she understood the frustration about injuries and the psychology that goes with it.  Her goal is to teach people how to listen to their bodies and to treat them with the nourishment they deserve.

Karen Bonds, Longview Yoga & Bliss Boutique

                        Picture
                        LONGVIEW, TEXAS

Karen just recently took over ownership of Longview Yoga & Bliss Boutique and is loving it. She's been practicing since 2006 and immediately fell in love with yoga although she didn't get serious about it until sometime later. After the initial excitement she realized she had the potential for strength but less so for flexibility. The lack of flexibility temporarily burst her yoga bubble and she stopped practicing for several months. She led a life without yoga and missed it terribly. She reached a point where she knew she had to practice--flexible or not. She got back on the mat and let go of her desire to be something she wasn't. Accepting her body led her to teacher training in 2009.

She obtained her 200-hour RYT and has also studied yoga therapy with Doug Keller. She is currently embarking a new adventure with Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training. Each day she is required to accept something anew about herself as she steps onto the mat. So far, the principles of yoga and practicing the breath have allowed her to overcome limitations imposed by her mind.

                        Valerie Nosenzo, The Valerina Mat

                        DALLAS, TEXAS

The Valerina Mat was designed and created to enhance new students' yoga classes. When she attended her first class, the instructor called out the different poses and she was completely lost. She had to look around to see what other participants were doing, often compromising her own pose.

From this frustration was born The Valerina, a high-quality yoga mat that has thirty-two of the most popular yoga poses printed on it. The poses are set up in a logical sequence where students can follow along to complete an entire practice, select a few poses to practice or use in class as a reference point.
Education for your mind, body and soul.
