                        200-Hour & In-Depth Studies Program

                        A Registered Yoga Alliance Program

                        The 200-hour yoga teacher training and in-depth studies program is open to anyone who would like to learn more about yoga. Participants can take one module here and there as it peaks their interest, just like Luby's cafeteria. Or go for the All-You-Can-Eat buffet by completing all seven modules accumulating more than 200 pounds--oops, hours--of learning and practical experience. 

                        The 200-hour level program is based on the standards set by Yoga Alliance and is offered in weekend workshops, or modules. Each module is a unique 
                        combo-platter of mind-body lectures, yoga classes, group project and coaching sessions, and other self-enhancement activities to deepen your understanding and knowledge of yoga and your self.

                        Yoga Alliance Registration


                        Upon completion of all seven modules, you will have acquired more than 200 hours in the different workshops, enabling you to register with the Yoga Alliance. Registration with the Yoga Alliance is totally voluntary and not a requirement for taking and/or completing any or all modules.

                        Module 1-Yoga Philosophy & Lifestyle

                        Discover the rich history and philosophy of this ancient self-realization practice as systemized in the Yoga Sutras. Learn about the masters and gurus in the different lineages of yoga. Discuss relevant ethical concepts as it applies to leading a yogic life. Adapt your specific lifestyle to honor the roots and ancient lessons of yoga.

                        Module 2-Methodologies of a Teacher

                        Learn the concept of vinyasa krama, Sanskrit for logical sequence. Apply this idea in yoga classes and in life. Identify the balance of breathing, postures and meditation to create the best practice possible. Discover all the tools available for planning and sequencing the ideal yoga class. 

                        Module 3-Elements of Hatha Yoga

                        Learn the essential elements of hatha yoga: postures, breathing and meditation. Delve into the various techniques you can use to enhance practice such as mudras, bandhas and guided imagery. Dissect standing and seated postures for personal and class adaptation. Learn common injuries and modifications.

                        Module 4-The Body on Yoga

                        Through ancient and modern texts, discover how powerful the practice of yoga is on the physical body and how different techniques impact the major systems. Discover the powerhouse of your energetic body, the seven chakras and how yoga and postures can affect the chakras.

                        Module 5-The Sun & Moon

                        Explore the prone, supine and inverted postures for personal and class adaptation. Study the ancient practice of Sun Salutations and see its use in modern times. Learn how to balance the opposites of your life, the yin and yang, and how both concepts must be present to have complete mind-body health and vitality.

                        Module 6-Practicum

                        Mentoring session to help you integrate and assimilate previous modules. Work in groups to complete assignments and to practice module concepts. Present karma yoga findings to peer. Complete mastery assessment in the form of Q&A and essays.

                        Module 7-Self Realization

                        To enhance the learning experience, this module focuses on activities you can do outside of the scheduled workshops to help solidify topics and can be arranged according to your schedule. This is a non-fee based module.
                        • 5 hours observing and assisting in group yoga classes
                        • 25 hours participating in group yoga classes
                        • 10 hours karma yoga
                        • 20 hours outside workshops

                        Don't worry, it's the same great training regardless of the geography. All Directors and Assistant Directors chose Purple Lotus Yoga to obtain their 200-hour training and they loved it so much they wanted to bring it to their neck of the woods. 

                        Each location follows a prescribed curriculum and agenda however each Director and Assistant Director brings her own unique perspective and experience to the program.
